Westfield Residence is about inspiring young women to realize their potential to have a positive impact in the world around them. We offer two programs designed to help young women grow into leaders and professionals: Women’s Leadership Seminar (a seminar run by professional women) and Montemare (a club run by fellow students).
Women’s leadership seminar
“The most dangerous leadership myth is that leaders are born - that there is a genetic factor to leadership. This myth asserts that people simply either have certain charismatic qualities or not. That’s nonsense; in fact, the opposite is true. Leaders are made rather than born.”
Are you ready to learn the skills of leadership?
The Women’s Leadership Seminar is a leadership course designed to help young women develop the skills and tools they need to feel confident in themselves, have clear direction and positively influence their environment. It is conducted by professional women leaders in the medical, education and management fields and oriented specifically towards UCLA students.
What to expect
The seminar will be twice a quarter on a Saturday morning from 11am-1pm. They will be workshop style, with speakers, discussions and work sessions (and a light snack!) We will be giving you access to leadership and management tools that can help you know yourself better, manage your time, define your objectives and achieve your goals. You will make connections with supportive professional mentors and motivated peers.
For those who would like to commit to the entire series, you will also receive a personal mentor for one on one followup and goal setting. You will be paired with one of the many inspiring professional women associated with Westfield, according to either your field or mentoring style.
The cost for this program is $50 for the year and to be partnered with a mentor, or $10 per session.

Our Mission:
Even after years of higher education, many find themselves struggling to fully live their lives purposefully and professionally; together, we intend to change that.
We are a community of young women who aim to grow as individuals, to become leaders in our fields, and to prepare one another in a readiness to encounter today's society. Together, we will discover how to navigate our personal and professional lives with a deeper understanding of ourselves and a greater capacity to serve others.
What We DO:
Montemare hosts monthly meetings, featuring talks given by professional women on topics of either professional or personal growth. There is also time for networking and socializing, and we charge $5 per meeting to cover refreshments and other program costs. Come join us!
Meets once a quarter @ Westfield from 2-4pm.
